Terms of use
Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms cover using Retroly: cataloguing and valuing your collection, running a shop, and buying from other collectors on the marketplace. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. They're written to be read; if anything is unclear, ask us.
Who we are
Retroly is run by Retroly. In these terms "we" and "us" means Retroly.
A sua conta
- You need to be 18 or over to buy or sell. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens in your account.
- An account belongs to a team. You can invite others to your team; team owners and admins can manage members, and everyone in a team can see and edit its collection.
- Accounts are free at the moment. If we ever introduce paid features we'll tell you beforehand, and nothing you already use for free will start costing money without your agreement.
- You can close your account at any time by asking us. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with notice where we reasonably can.
Values and estimates
Estimated values come from recorded sales of the same release and are a guide, not an offer or a valuation you can rely on for insurance or tax. Prices move, and condition and completeness matter. We make no promise that an item will sell for its estimate.
Buying and selling
- Sales are between the buyer and the seller. Sellers are independent collectors and dealers, not us. We provide the listings, baskets, offers and order tracking, but we are not a party to the sale, we don't hold the money and we don't own the items.
- Payment goes straight to the seller by the methods the seller offers (for example bank transfer, or PayPal Goods & Services, which includes PayPal's buyer protection). Bank transfers and PayPal Friends & Family payments have no buyer protection.
- Sellers must describe items honestly (release, condition, what's included), use their own photos of the actual copy, dispatch promptly with the postage the buyer paid for, add the tracking number, and only sell items they own and have the right to sell.
- Not allowed: copies, pirated or reproduction items sold as originals; stolen goods; anything illegal to sell in the UK; listings for things you don't have; using the site to arrange sales elsewhere to avoid a buyer's order.
- Offers: an accepted offer or a Buy it Now is an agreement to buy. Buyers can make up to three offers per item; sellers may set automatic accept and decline prices.
- If something goes wrong, contact the seller first. If that doesn't resolve it, tell us: we can help, and we can remove sellers who don't deal fairly, but the contract and any refund are between you and the seller. If the seller is a business, you have the usual consumer rights against them (including, for most distance purchases, 14 days to cancel).
Refer a friend
- When someone joins with your invite link and their first purchase of £10 or more arrives, you each earn £5.00. It arrives when the buyer confirms it, or 14 days after it was dispatched if the order isn't cancelled.
- The purchase must be from a seller other than the person who invited them. You can't refer yourself or create accounts to earn rewards.
- Rewards are paid by us to the PayPal account you give, usually within 30 days of being earned. They are not money off a purchase.
- We can withhold or cancel rewards that come from orders that aren't genuine, and we may change or end the scheme; rewards already earned will still be paid.
What you put on the site
- Your collection, notes, photos and listings stay yours. You give us permission to store them and to show the parts you choose to make public (your shop and its listings, and marketplace listings) so the site works and can be found in search engines.
- Only upload photos you took or have the right to use. Photo location and camera data are removed when you upload.
- Don't upload anything unlawful, abusive or misleading, and don't try to break, overload, scrape or get around the security of the site.
Catalogue data and pictures
The Spectrum catalogue is built from ZXDB, and library pictures are courtesy of Spectrum Computing. Game names, artwork and trademarks belong to their owners. If you own rights in something shown here and want it changed, contact us.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep the site accurate and running but provide it "as is": catalogue entries, matches and estimates can be wrong, and the site may sometimes be unavailable. We're not responsible for sales between users or for losses that weren't foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site grows. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
